The objective of this research was to analyze the risks and safety protocols for working at heights in a construction project involving the assembly and installation of metal structures in the New Flotation Area of LARRIVA CONSTRUCTORA. A descriptive methodology with a deductive, non-experimental approach was applied within LARRIVA CONSTRUCTORA, focusing on workers involved in constructing and assembling a metal structure and installing piping for a phase of the gold extraction process. The study relied on collecting information primarily from current policies, approved methodologies, previously applied guidelines, and experiences shared by workers and contractor companies currently providing services to the company. LARRIVA CONSTRUCTORA is developing the Fruta del Norte gold mining project, one of the largest gold projects currently under construction, located in Zamora Chinchipe Province. The results were obtained through analyzing documents provided by the company, inspecting facilities where related work had been conducted previously, and visiting workers who played key roles in past and current projects. This approach allowed for effective feedback, which is essential for fostering a strong safety culture regarding working at heights within the company. The findings establish an important precedent for initiating and advancing similar future projects while implementing an administrative process capable of supporting effective safety management. This research highlights the importance of learning from past experiences to enhance safety protocols and ensure that future projects are carried out with improved risk management strategies, contributing to the overall success and safety of construction projects at LARRIVA CONSTRUCTORA’s operational facilities worldwide and beyond expectations.
