Abstract

This academic article aims to implement control procedures for vertical rescue equipment. This study, based on a qualitative method, a fundamental methodology in scientific and academic research, is suitable for exploring the internal dynamics of the Fire Department of the Canton of Antonio Ante. It allows for a deep understanding of the perceptions, experiences, and motivations of its members. Through this method, real and nuanced results were obtained, based on actual practices carried out in the inspection of equipment and the disregard for its risks and needs. Over the years, despite having developed a specialized human team to address critical situations in complicated topography within the locality, and despite possessing advanced equipment, a deficiency in the training of personnel for the inspection and continuous maintenance of such equipment has been identified. This study examines the need to implement a rigorous control system that ensures safety and effectiveness in vertical rescue operations, based on international safety standards and the implementation of control protocols. The document concludes that implementing these procedures will increase the safety and effectiveness of personnel during operations. Finally, it is recommended to establish a strict inspection schedule, encouraging active participation of the staff in regular training and equipment review sessions. These actions will optimize the workforce, reduce the risk of failures, and prevent accidents, strengthening the public’s trust in the institution’s mission to provide efficient, technically sound, and highly professional emergency services. This will enhance the reliability of rescue operations and contribute to the success of the department.
