Abstract

Changes in the workplace, particularly those associated with technological and industrial development, have contributed to the emergence of health problems among workers that are not always recognized as being directly related to work activities. Nevertheless, research shows that these conditions have always existed and are currently identified as psychosocial risks. These risks are considered as significant as, or even more significant than, traditional occupational risk factors such as safety and hygiene hazards or ergonomic risks. Psychosocial risks are especially relevant because they directly affect workers’ performance, productivity, and quality of work. Mental health disorders not only impact psychological well- being but also exert a considerable influence on physical health. Consequently, organizations experience increased absenteeism caused by stress, anxiety, burnout, and other work-related psychosocial factors. These conditions represent a serious concern not only for companies, due to reduced productivity and higher costs, but also for occupational health systems and society. Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations should not be regarded solely as a corporate requirement. Instead, promoting workers’ well-being should be a central objective, since it generates long-term benefits for organizations, including improved efficiency, employee satisfaction, and a healthier work environment. In this academic article, based on the analysis of psychosocial risks using a psychosocial risk classification survey, it was concluded that such risks are present in the evaluated workplace. When analyzed by dimensions, these risks negatively affected both the mental and physical health of workers. Therefore, the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of occupational health and safety protocols were considered necessary.
