Occupational risk management in oil wells, especially in the Shushufindi Field, is crucial to ensure the safety of workers and environmental protection. Operations in this field, vital for oil production in Ecuador, carry inherent risks, making effective risk management essential to prevent accidents and protect both employees and the natural environment. This literature review article examines the evolution of industrial safety conditions in the oil operations of the Shushufindi Field from 2015 to 2023, with a focus on workplace incidents during this period, analyzing their causes and consequences. It explores how deficiencies in safety measures have contributed to the occurrence of accidents, highlighting strategies implemented to mitigate these risks and improve working conditions. Through a critical review of available technical and regulatory reports, as well as existing academic literature, the effects of effective technical supervision on reducing workplace incidents are assessed. The methodology involves the collection of secondary sources, such as safety reports from EP Petroecuador, research on the Ecuadorian oil industry, and other relevant studies. This article aims to provide a thorough understanding of safety conditions, identify gaps in risk management, and propose recommendations for improving supervision in the sector. Finally, the benefits of robust risk management are highlighted, not only in preventing incidents but also in improving the productivity of the oil sector in Ecuador.
