The use of a multimedia story as a guiding tool to face bullying in high school youth

Abstract

The purpose of the following study was to design a multimedia story as a tool to guide teachers from high school in dealing with bullying. For this purpose, a feasible project was carried out, using a closed-question survey to teachers from an institution located in Caracas, Sucre municipality. The answers were the key to gather the necessary information to design and create multimedia stories based on the variables from the specific objectives. Finally the main component was motivation as the central theme of the story. At the same time, it was possible to conclude that the surveyed teachers considered the work of multimedia stories an interesting and creative idea due to the usage of technological tools, music and sounds as a viable strategy to deal with the bullying cases. Based on this, a story was designed as a guiding tool to deal with bullying in high school students. It was concluded that: (a) the emotional and the needs form the young victims and those involved in bullying cases were identified; (b) the necessary components to elaborate the story were established; and (c) the story or final product was elaborated.
