Abstract

Physical and mechanical risk assessment is currently recognized as a set of actions that help identify hazardous conditions that develop in a work environment and are characterized by implications that affect the health and safety of workers. Therefore, it is important to determine the actual working conditions and how these could affect the health, well-being, and safety of workers performing technical tasks related to the maintenance and repair of all types of vehicles. The study was based on current regulations within the Ecuadorian state and the various standards presented by the Social Security Institute (IESS) and the Workers' Health and Safety Regulations, as well as the Labor Code, Executive Decree 255, ISO 45001, and guidelines from the Ministry of Labor. The methodology was descriptive with a quantitative approach, for which a verification process based on national safety regulations was developed and surveys were administered to operating personnel. The results show the presence of various physical risks, such as constant exposure to high noise levels, inadequate lighting, and high temperatures. In conclusion, the need to implement preventive measures, strengthen staff training, and establish periodic safety checks is necessary to protect the physical integrity of workers at all times and foster a safe and responsible work culture throughout the workforce.
