This project aims to ensure that firefighters properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) for structural fires, guaranteeing their safety during interventions in high-risk situations. The correct use of this equipment minimizes dangers and increases the effectiveness of emergenc y responses. The basic equipment that should be used includes a helmet, face mask, jacket, pants, gloves, and boots, all specifically designed to withstand high temperatures and risks associated with fires. Each component serves a specific purpose, from protecting against flames to preventing injurie s from falling debris. For the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment, it is crucial to conduct a preintervention check. Firefighters from the El Progreso company must ensure that each part of the gear is in good condition, free from damage or wear, as any failure could compromise their safety. The helmet must fit securely and not obstruct visibility, while the face mask must seal properly to protect the respiratory system. The jacket and pants should fully cover the body, leaving no areas exposed to heat or flames. It is essential for firefighters to receive continuous training on the proper placement and use of these items, as well as becoming familiar with their specific characteristics. The correct use of PPE not only protects the firefighter but also improves efficiency in rescue and firefighting tasks. Additionally, it is vital to properly clean and maintain the gear after each intervention to ensure its long-term functionality. Proper maintenance ensures that the equipment remains reliable and safe, extending its lifespan for future emergency interventions.
