Abstract

Genocide is a crime that has been around almost from the moment humans began organizing into family groups, tribes, and more. It is in turn an international crime classified within the genre against humanity. In the specific case of Indonesia for the years 1965 and 1966 of one of the bloodiest political massacres in world history. This genocide began on August 17, 1945, when Indonesia achieved its independence after freeing itself from Dutch rule. The killings took place in Jakarta, Bali and later other Indonesian islands. The mass killings not only targeted members of the communist party, but were also victims of left-wing sympathizers and ethnic Chinese. Therefore, it is important that these crimes must be condemned at all times and in all places, the international community must maintain constant vigilance against the perpetration of these acts and must prosecute and judge each and every one of those responsible.
